Cleverbuy and J2 Discount Travel Updates

Every travel deal purchased under J2 Discount Travel and Tours comes with a 60 days money back guarantee. If said deal doesn’t satisfy your needs or expectations, return the unused voucher to the Clever Buy office or get your money back. Refund must be made within 60 days after the deal end date. Failure to do so means the customer loses their eligibility for the money back guarantee scheme.

Mechanics:

  • If customer has paid with cash, thru over-the-counter or C.O.D. they will get 100% back in cash or credits (whichever they prefer).
  • If customer has paid using credit card or Paypal, they will get 100% back in credits or 93% back in cash (7% service charge will be deducted).
  • Customers need to visit Clever Buy office for the refund.
  • Voucher holder with booked airline/hotel forfeits their right to the 60 days money back guarantee.

Clever Buy reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time including the right to discontinue or forfeit when it deemed so.

    Good day! Gusto ko lang ipaalam sa inyo ang naging experience nmin sa CleverBuy at yung kasabwat nilang travel agency na J2 Travel and Tours sa Makati. We availed of their Coron deal early January this year, paid by credit card and went to them personally para i-submit yung vouchers. We were assured na tatawagan nila kami for our booking details pero hindi ito kailanman nangyari. After three months, sinadya na nmin sila kase duda na kmi sa deal. Bumalik kmi sa kanila April 26, hinahanap nmin yung Ms. Ross na booking officer dw for Coron. Wala daw, on leave. We asked to see our vouchers and when we saw it, the front liner named Marge assured us na booked na kmi sa Darayonan Lodge. Special flight pa dw kami, 62 kaming passengers via Royal Air daw, aeroplano dw ni Willie Revillame. Hintayin nlang dw nmin ang e-tickets na ipapadala sa email last day of April. In short, hindi ito nangyari, hanggang sa kanina, May 2, pumunta na naman kmi doon only to be told na cancelled yung lahat ng flights nila from May 5 to 28 because they were having problems doon sa air carriers na ka-deal nila, they overbooked daw so many of their trip deals, may problema sa eroplano, kasyo walang insurance, hindi dw nacoordinate ng maayos ng J2 staff, ifa-fire na dw mga staff nila, at kung ano ano pang kasinugalingan. Ang dami naming nakasabay na nagrereklamo, pare pareho kaming galit sa J2. Ang pinakamasaklap, ayaw humarap nung may ari ng J2 smin, the people who kept making excuses were from CleverBuy and CleverTravel. Hindi tuloy namin alam kung magkakasabwat sila kase kung ikaw ba naman may ka-tie up kang travel agency tapos ganun, palpak, hindi ba magagalit ka din? Kaso yung si Wacks from CleverBuy at Tetchie from CleverTravel, parang ayos lang sa kanila na ganon. They were not even remorseful sa ginawa nilang panloloko sa mga taong bumili sa kanila. We also called the Business Permit office of Makati and were dismayed to find out they’re not registered. Walang permit to operate. Kaya please, if you can help spread the word around, please do. Kawawa naman mga naloloko pa nila dahil they’re still offering deals online. Even after all the reklamo, they remain indifferent to the people that complain. Dinadaan nalang nila sa refund. Pero paano naman yung oras at panahon na sinasayang nila? Wala silang isang salita.

    • Hi, we bought 4 vouchers last Feb 10, 2012 going to Boracay worth 17,990 (each voucher). Nagpunta kami sa J2 March 16, because it says on the voucher (booking starts March 16) so we were expecting na magagamit namin agad vouchers kasi start palang naman ng booking pagpunta namin sa J2. Unfortunately, sabi nung staff fully booked na daw month ng April sa Boracay kasi summer daw, so we decided to booked for October 2012. They ask us to filled up a form with the list of names and submitted the voucher to them. Sabi nila tatawagan nalang nila kami or email pag ok na. Pero simula nun di pa sila tumatawag hanggang napanood ng cousin ko sa tv na madami nag complain sa cleverbuy. Tinatawagan ko J2 and cleverbuy wala sumasagot. Nag email din ako sa celverbuy wala din reply. Marerefund pa ba namin yung vouchers na binili namin? =(

      Cayey, Did you check with the airline mismo kung may nakabook talaga under your name? I met up with another victim yesterday kase who showed me the e-ticket sent by J2. When she called the airline to confirm, wala daw syang booking with them.

        then tumawag din ako sa dive link resort to check my booking with them, kso mgrereturn call daw sila dhil as of now wla pa silang kuryente to check..

    I also have another issue with cleverbuy and their partner merchant TRIP TOE TRAVELS. Nagrequest na kami ng refund sa cleverbuy pero parang di naman nila inaasikaso!

  8. i’m so terrified by the feedbacks i’ve read regarding the cleverbuy and j2 travel promo. Got my voucher just recently for a boracay trip and paid P13,800 in cash already. I’ve contacted the hotel (Club Ten) though initially just to make sure the deal is valid, and got my personal reservation on Aug.3-5 informing them that i’ll purchase a deal from cleverbuy. So now my problem would be booking for the rtt-airfare. Im afraid though that i will not be able to book on my preferred dates since all j2’s trunklines and even mobile numbers are either out of reach, unattended or they just don’t answer my calls at all. I don’t want to take the risk of wasting money and effort, so can i just have my refund from cleverbuy? Do i need to go their office personally? (I believe in the law of karma).

  10. to those who are having trouble booking their reservation, i suggest that you should go directly to j2 travel and tours office the soonest. Get your money back and don’t allow them to just make you wait for another 2-3 weeks for the refund, actually they can provide your money back within the day,, it just a matter of how eager and fierce you are to get your refund. Expect that a lot a complainants will be there as well. Goodluck and may God bless us all.

  12. I bought the 6900 trip to bohol tru clevebuy .. then nalaman ko close na pla ang office nila . july pa dw ang next trip for booking . Im pretty sure na mgkasabwat ang cleverbuy at j2trvel . gusto ko na lng sana makuha ung refund ko early on the 3 to 4 weeks na sinasabi nila or else i will report them to mike enriquez of imbestigador . sobra panloloki nila . I also availed the trip to plawan tru triptoe travel kahit ngkaproblema nkaalis nmn kami . i met some good directores of gma 7 that trip . ang sabi nila if winalangya kami ng travel company na un tutulungan nila kami mkapagreklamo at mafeature un sa tv.

  17. hello everyone just want to inform you Na narefund ko na ung 6900 na binayad ko for a trip to bohol .. just follow this steps .. 1. punta kayo sa cleverbuy 2. ask for refund 3. tel them you want to refund your money right away cash or dated check . my husband went there sa office nila nung una 2 to 4 weeks dw wag na wag kayo papayag .. after 2 hours of waiting presto binaba na ang check from china bank worth 6900 … after nun he went through china bank to check if the issued check is good .. so far good nmn sy .. sana makuha nyona ung refund nyo madali lng basta wag kayo papayag sa mghihintay kayo ng matgal ..

Ms. Lanie of J2 Travel promised to call me up as soon as I gave her the vouchers. She NEVER called me back regarding my booking! Super irate talaga ako sa nakasagot. I even went there the following day to claim my money. Buti nman apologetic sila. They said bumalik ako the next day to get my cheque. I told them I won’t be going back anymore and I want my cheque immediately for all the hassle & trouble i went through. They asked me to wait for an hour & a half and gave me a post dated cheque amounting to 19,700K. I have deposited the cheque last May 18 and buti nman may pondo! If magbounce, di lang fraud ang isasampa kong kaso, pati estafa na! I HAVE LEARNED MY LESSON>>>>>HUWAG MAGPAPADALA SA MURANG DEALS LALO NA PAG DI REPUTABLE ANG COMPANY AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WAG NA BUMILI SA CLEVERBUY!!!!

    I saw your sentiments. Sa akin naman, Okay. Nkuha ko un E-Ticket ko via ZestAir for Boracay. Nakapunta n kme ng Boracay last May18-20. Last week lng. Sa One Azul kme ngstay. Beachfront w/ free continental breakfast for 3D/2N. Okay naman.. Ngayon, I need to refund un isang ticket. I already cancelled un isang ticket, 2 days prior the flight date namin. Refundable sya sabi sa ZestAir Makati. Sila kc ang issuing office. Ngayon, dapat dw un J2 Travel and magpunta sa ZestAir kc cla dw ang ngbayad sa kanila. Eh pera ko naman un binayad dun..Ayaw i-allow ng ZestAir na ibalik un refund ko for 1 ticket.. Eh sarado n un J2 Travel office nila sa V.M Condominium sa Makati.. What will I do now? Sayang din un refund ko sa 1 air ticket… Help please!!!

Hi Andrea, nabigyan ka ba ng j2 travel itinerary bago ka nagpunta sa boracay? kasi we’re booked na sa zest air and hotel, I called the airline and hotel to confirm the reservations, at naka reserve nman kami.. my problem is di naman kami nabigyan ng itinerary and no use to go to j2 travel kasi close na daw office nila. Don’t know if we’re gonna go to the trip or not kasi wala yung itinerary from j2.

      • you could go po sa hearing sa Friday, June 1, 2pm sa NBI Taft, 5th flr, Anti Fraud Division, Atty. Minnie Retanal’s office. Don’t wear shorts & slippers dahil hindi kau papasukin. Bring necessary documents for your refund like vouchers. Sabi ni Sir Ed Garcia, general manager ng Cleverbuy, a-attend sila sa hearing. Nsa Cleverbuy po ako kahapon and ang dami ngang nagrereklamo. 3 na lang ang staff nila na nag-aasikaso sa lahat ng nagrerefund. And ang naibigay lang ay promissory note saying na sa June 30 makakapagbigay ng refund, either cash or cheque. Nakakalungkot lang na umabot pa sa point na kailangan may magwala, at manguha ng mga gamit dun.

    Hi guys, sorry quick updates lang po ito, pauwi pa kasi ako ng Tuguegarao and I just got home from NBI. Unfortunately, to sum it all up, parang malabo na makapag-refund pa tayo. May hope pero don’t keep it high, for those who wants cleverbuy to pay for what they did whether monetary or not, then ya’ll have to decide if you want to come with us and submit your affidavits. We signed a complaint letter as a group but we still have to submit each one’s affidavit where you state your own story then have it notarize then submit it anytime next week at the anti-fraud division, room 503. Look for Atty. Minnie Retanal or Ms. Evelyn. Please keep in touch, mas madaming complaints mas maganda. Pero bawal po umatras once ma-file na yung kaso as per Atty. Retanal’s request, kasi they don’t want to waste time on people who’s aim is to get their money lang, kasi wala daw assurance yun, ang ilalaban na lang talaga dito is makasuhan si Cleverbuy. Kaya weigh nyo na rin muna ang situation, no pressure.

  30. I also have 4 vouchers at them and can not get back the fund. I asked to refund since Mar, they keep promising and asked for more patient. But now they moved their office already. I dont know how to do in this situation, I am Vietnamese, not Philippines. So bad luck. I you could contact them pls help me get back my fund.

    • Hi Ms. Karen, were you able to go to their office personally last March? Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do, but to file a formal complaint in NBI against Cleverbuy… They’re website are now inactive, but travel deals were already removed.. but there are three non-travel deal posted on their website..

      • Yes I came there at Mar. they just told me that the refund process need 45 days to take. I had to wait. And they have been silent until now. Do you know that the company was closed already or they just moved their office. Any goverment agency can protect the customer right in this case?

    MANILA, Philippines – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has stepped in the internet scam case involving the coupon/voucher website Cleverbuy.com.

    The NBI received several complaints from consumers who paid for travel packages, some up to hundreds of thousands of pesos, but did not get any confirmation from the company.

    NBI computer crimes unit chief Migdonio Congzon Jr said they are already looking for the whereabouts of the people behind the company who may be liable for estafa or swindling.

    Congzon admitted there is no regulatory body that screens these group buying sites. He also advises consumers to be wary about super cheap deals because “if it’s too good to be true, it must not be true at all.”

    Congzon added those who were duped will not necessarily get their money back as soon as possible since the NBI will just investigate and cannot compel owners to pay up unless they have an out of court settlement with the complainants.

    Last week, ABS-CBN was able to go to the office of Cleverbuy in Makati but it was already closed.

    ABS-CBN tried to contact the representative of the company, a certain Edgardo Garcia, but his cellphone and landline numbers are already not working.

  36. i just tried to encash the check dated today in chinabank, unfortunately CLOSE NA ANG ACCOUNT NG CLEVERBUY!!! i was advise to deposit the check to other bank and get a documentation that it was close so i can use it in filing a case. According to chinabank kahapon lang naclose ang account ng CLEVERBUY. I would like get some help how to use this against CLEVERBUY!!! Sobrang dami na nilang perwisyong ginawa!!!

Actually around may nag punta ako sa amorsolo makati, sa j2 travel, unfortunately sarado sila at lumipat daw ng office. Mag papabook na sana kami. And due to having a lot of works to do, we decided to avail on on feb 2013 na lang. Kaso nagkaroon ng ganitong issue.

  49. sa mga di pa po nakakaalam, the owner of Cleverbuy named Christian Bayer (A German National) has left the Philippines, kasama nya itong kanang kamay nya na si David Staudigel at iniwan ang lahat nang problema sa mga Filipino counterparts nila.
